Our story
Tour de Cinemas began in 2024 when, after a dozen years visiting the same two or three theaters while living in Jacksonville, FL, I relocated to South Florida and began an expedition to visit and catalogue as many movie theaters as possible in the hopes of finding a new favorite cinema.
What started as a personal effort to document and compare movie theaters evolved into a broader project: systematically exploring cinemas as destinations, each with its own design, technology, strengths, and shortcomings. Over time, this expedition grew into a structured approach—visiting theaters, observing presentation quality, and evaluating how each venue contributes to the overall moviegoing experience.
The goal was never to simply say whether a theater was “good” or “bad,” but to understand why certain cinemas stand out, how exhibition choices affect audiences, and how theaters continue to adapt in an evolving entertainment landscape.
Today, Tour de Cinemas continues that original expedition of cataloguing cineplexes, highlighting innovations, and documenting the state of theatrical exhibition one theater at a time, still in search of my next favorite theater.
